  c. It was brought up that this year the BS/GS committee try different approach in getting the word out about the program to more students and earlier.
  d. Vice Cmdr Hicks will reach out to the County to obtain our per capita bill. (We have since found a copy)
  e.The pathway built by Ryan Scannel, Eagle Scout candidate was reported to be very useful. He has sent his gratitude to the Post for the donation.

  VII. Membership: 144 Active Members

New Business

1. Motion was passed to commit $300 to the County Cmdr’s project this year, the Mission of Honor.
  2. State Cmdr’s project is supporting of the State Veterans home’s. His goal is $115,000. Asked the post to consider what our post contribution will be this year. Post has tabled this until Novembers meeting.
  3. Cmdr Melvin noted the National HQ was compiling a list of Post Commanders, SAL Squadron Commanders and Adjutant’s to better communicate Legion business.
  4. Fundraiser to be held at Red Lion Inn January 8th and 9th
  5. Cmdr Melvin reported we received a request from Eagle scout candidate Scannel. The post passed a motion to donate $200 to his efforts.
  6. Vice Cmdr announced there is a possible opportunity for the Post to have its own building in Southampton. He stated the idea was mentioned to him by a Vincentown businessman. The Post had several questions and concerns. Vice Cmdr. Agreed to get more information and brief the post at November’s meeting.

1. BS & GS chair meeting to be held after meeting.

  3. Commander going to work with National on getting post electronic access back.
  4. There was a motion on the floor to donate $200 to support the state commanders project.
  5. Web Designer will double check on the website page, perform a “little house cleaning.”
  6. Next meeting is on St. Patrick’s day.
  7. Received a letter from the SAL asking for a donation for Child Welfare Foundation

The SAL is the single largest contributor to the CWF. The CWF is a nonprofit that has two primary purposes: to contribute to the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual welfare of children and youth and establish more effective uses of knowledge possessed by well-established organizations. To attain these goals, CWF raises donations and awards grants to organizations that help children. The CWF is governed by its board of directors and a national chairman. All administrative costs of the Child Welfare Foundation are borne by The American Legion, so 100 percent of all money raised for the foundation is used exclusively for grants.

Minutes from the January meetings were approved, one change noted.
  IV. Communications
1. NJ lottery board contacted Cmdr about a pull tab machine. He respectfully declined, due to lack of our own “home” to put it.

Unfinished Business

1. Still dealing with lack of correspondence. This issue is believed to be caused by out dated post officer form on file. Post officer form has been sent electronically and by paper copy.
  2. The Post sent $200 to the State Commanders Project.
  3. The Post sent $100 to the SAL for the Child Welfare Fund.
  4. We have received acknowledgements to participate from all five schools in our area.
  5. BS/GS informational handouts have been delivered (paper and electronic) for the schools to give to students.
  6. There is concern that students have not filled out the online application. Commander Melvin to follow up with school contacts.
  7. Looking for volunteers who would like to help conduct interviews for BS/GS. Please contact Warren Herbst for info.
  8. Commander handed out draft of business solicitation letter. Members are encouraged to distribute to any interested business.

New Business 1. Cmdr was contacted by the Joesph A Ferko string band soliciting to March in the Departments convention in Wildwood. They will be directed to the department organizers.
  2. Vice Commander Hicks proposed that the Post find some additional veteran charities to volunteer with.
  3. The present Post members had some excellent suggestions. Adjutant Kosick suggested a “subcommittee” to help get direction for this endeavor. He volunteered to head this up and will communicate with the Commander and bring ideas to nest months meeting.
  4. Adjutant Kosick reported on The American Legion's “Basic Training” It is an official training program offered on the American Legions website. To help better understand our organization.
